Finally…..Day 3

Wednesday, November 1st, 2006

Heehee….are you "full" yet? ……I know, i know….you must be thinking…how did you girls did it? right? Well, i think….its the "makan" spirit we’ve got ;) Hmm, ready to follow up whats with the last day before going back to KL? … lets go!!!!

okok, the next morning…we were suppose to get up early like the previous day…sigh…however, due to the late night poker game on bed….everyone just didnt want to get up frm the cozy bed the next morning:)  Till someone screamed : HEY !!! BReakfast!!! ….Then we recalled….Ya hor…We still got unticked places in our makan list…ok then…Im up!!!!

Item 1 in our menu- Toast bread with soft boil eggDscf0083_edited..oh yeah..it was smth special..Its not like the kaya toast bread we usually have…its a salty taste this time…try this at home and tell me how is it like k… Ooh well, bread wasnt enough for us of course…see next to the bread? its "Chee Cheong Fun topped with mushroom sauce" Yeah…we ordered that too…CCF in KL is usually served with "tim cheong and lat chiu" (sweet black sauce and some chilli sauce) but not in Ipoh..The mushroom sauce is salty served with some green cut chilli at the side… mm mm..special eih?

Yup…we went for a second round of breakfast…. CurryDscf0087 noodles…This is a familly-run business. They had this secret "special" ingredient added to the curry that makes everyone craves for it…giggling…god knows whats in it… Ok…they serve you plain noodles with curry, either "dry" or " with soup"…and they also offer some things for you to add in your noodles…chicken meat, fishball, "siew yoke" - roasted pork that looks totaaly marvelous when its added in the noodles…

Finish Curry mee….we have one more untick destination in our list….OHHHHH ….its the hakka "kon low mee"…The last and final dish in our hunting list…Ok one thing to comment, magazine doesnt tell you everything ….its not totally smth you need to follow….The kon low mee was suppose to taste nice…however, since we packed the noodles and ate it before we left…so it was very dry then…aiya…finally somehthing to pick on..hmm, so pic can be deciving at times :)

Of course, before leaving Ipoh, we went to buy Ipoh’s famous "heong piah" , "Kai Chai Beng" and other tid-bits…so its true…when you go Ipoh, sure you’ll come back with 2, 3 bags of things….So can you imagine H.Ann bringing back lots of food stuff with both hands and her luggage around her? hehehehe… Cannot imagine im such a "silai"-auntie…… Sigh…..VEry happy with the trip this time!!!! If you have the chance, go try on a trip like that k….but not too much lar…remember…once like that its enough, or else you’ll be in a round round shape like me then…How?

Day 2

5 young gals got up real early in a Wed morning just to go " yum zhou Cha" (meaning have dim sum) in Ipoh :) Aiyo….Without even letting my stomach to rest properly since yesterday, my "food hunting" continues and this time….. Dscf0067its Foh San… (famous in Ipoh for its dim sum k) Although it was a Wed, surprising ly the shop was full with customers, so, imagine how ‘geng’ the dimsum is …but …we manage to find a table and settle down….and here goes…we started ordering food…we had quite some number of dishes but this– "ma lai ko" Dscf00661(Malaysia cake)is smth different here lor…brown in colour..sweet and soft with a scent and sweetness of gula melaka ( ^-^" sorry ar pic quite blur)….

I was mentioning about the 3 breakfast right? Right…So the 2nd stop…..just opposite Foh San…we had the famous " Hor Hee" in Ipoh!! Any idea what is it? OK…its also like hor fun we have it here but served with shredded chicken and fish ball slice…plus their super tasty clear soup…mama mia…thumbs up man!!

After filling our stomach, we continue our journey by seraching for the "Kei Fong Tau Foo Fah". Hmm…it stated in the mag that their open time was 1030 and so true enough, when we reached at like 1015 like that, the tau foo fah has not arrived….chuckling…Tau Foo Fah only mah…BIG deal…Not that i "KUA Cheong" (exargerate) we were not the only one waiting for it k, people waiting in their BMW also got ah…dont believe? we had to queue at the shop to buy TFF …Dscf00721hmm…but to tell you the truth, it was worth the waiting…the tao foo fah was so smooth and jelly like it melts in your mouth. Once you scoop it frm the bowl, its like scooping water like that k…

Finally…Breakfast over…What next? dont worry we didnt continue eating…we went for karaoke later….

After like 4 hours of singing, we drove to Ipoh town again..and this time..its Fruit Rojak!!!  Dscf0076Hmm, see the pic? Its just a small stall but again, lots of people crazy over it…the smell of the peanut plus the black paste…and of course, the thin crunchy keropok over it….aiyo..who can resist this kind of food huh?? Hmm one keropok was never enough so we ordered another extra keropok with extra black toppings on it…mmm, ficker licking good ;)

Enough…Enough!!!!you might think, but err err… we continued down town to look for "Curry Chicken Bread" (Dscf00781direct translation from cantonese) The curry chicken was inside a huge freshly baked mangali bread and we had to cut in the bread like searching for gold ^-^"…. So, basically we had to deep the bread into the curry sauce and eat straight away and yes,we had to be quick or else the bread gets soggy!!!

After that, we decided to call a stop for the moment and let our little belly rest…We went to Ipoh parade to WALK AND WALK to digest those food for another supper later :) ….WHAT!!!!???…hehe, food hunt mah…sure like that lar! By the way, MS and I got really crazy when we were at the mall coz we spotted a shop that sells japan animated manga series as well as those korean drama mag, the korean celeb posters and stickers and etc….WAaaaaaH!!!!! We almost felt like shifting the whole shop back to Kl if we could but in the end, we managed to ctrl ourselves and bought NOTHING!

Well finally, nothing ends our day better than tong sui and kuih at JACK FAH coffee Shop..weird name huh? Erm, we ordered like 6 types of kuih and 2 bowls of tong sui…dont worry lar..they’re all in small portion…colourful just like the kuihs we have it in KL but the thing is– its a coffee shop that sells JUST the kuih and Tong sui only…hmm and see…its doing really well!Dscf00821
