A ^mAKan^ trip to remember
Monday, October 30th, 2006Yup…just visited Ipoh recently…okok not recently, its was almost a month ago. It was an unforgetable and enjoyable journey…. travelling north just to taste FOOD AND DELICACIES that we seldom get to eat in KL…Boy… word that i can best describe myself …INCrediBle!!!! Crazy !!! for all i can say….Why? Imagine…have you tried having breakfast for 3 times A DAY at 3 different places for 3 different kind of mouth-watering food?? hehe no? well, im proud to say that, i have!!We girls even beat the boys down FLAT!!! hehehehe…. (forgot to mention, there was another group with mostly boys travelling together with us but ,sad to say, our appetite (5 girls) was better than them ;) )
Well, we even had a food guide which "travels" around with us everyday. So before each meal, we will go survey and search for the place featured in this magazine….like i said, basically just to search for good food around Ipoh town:) And then before we go to bed, we will then plan the menu for the next day. So the food menu will decide where we will be visiting the next day ..hahahaha
Yo…we really went all out for food lor and if you ask me since you have 3 breakfastssss, then what about lunch and dinner? hehe, what do you think? To tell the truth, i myself got lost of count too..so, in order to remember, i kept a record everyday about what we had and where was it and how GOod was it each of the 3 days while i was there.
So, interested to know about my "Ipoh Food Quest"?…
Day 1
Upon arrival, we started our "food hunt" by having "yong Tau Foo" served with noodles for lunch…well, the ‘horfun’ we use to have in KL is no match for the one in Ipoh k!..see we usually serve YTF with rice in KL mah but thats a NO-No in Ipoh. why? …I also dunno.Next on the way to CY’s hse to place our luggage, we spotted the small little stall selling ‘muar chi’ and "peanut butter paste" just along the road. See, actually these are the places featured in the guide and we try our very best to spot and try each and every one inside this guide
so, with the 2 places visited just now, there goes 2 ticks in our makan list! Wah…we were 70% full already lar hor…then just after say 1 hour after the muar chi, we accidently spotted coffee shops along the road and so we deicided to stop by a coffee shop to try their Ipoh-old-town white coffee. Decor of the shop was as stylish as those in KL and ooh PM ordered this drink— stocking (poinitng at the leg)milk tea…weird name ….milky and not so nice according to her…dare to try? i shall save this for you to comment the next time you go k….
OK that was lunch to teatime….. are you full yet? …we took a rest and wash ourselves before continuing to look for the famous Ipoh SaHorFun around the old town. Unfortunately, since it was a Tues, coincidently, the featured shops selling this were all closed during the day and we had no idea what was the reason…so PM suggested the other shop she use to go at this place called ‘Kamhor’ ..however with their super-slow service but excellent quality noodles ,taugeh and chicken, it was really satisfying !!! crunchy taugeh, tender meat going with a bowl of hot soup and horfun…TAsty!!!
If you think thats all for the day, you seem to be forgetting supper….guess what i had for supper?……A multilayered EGG TART..yummy…ok its famous for its 48-layered egg tart pastry but of course i couldnt count them lar but i believe if you were to eat it when its freshly baked, i think this would be the best ever egg tart you have ever tasted. Ok…thats all for day 1, what about day 2?
